What should I wear?

Worship doesn’t mean “dress-up” at Abiding Presence. Come as you are! We are a casual, non-stuffy congregation.

What can I expect at Worship?

Abiding Presence is known for the wonderful music that fills all of our services. Each service follows the Lutheran liturgy, but in a different style.

Before you enter the Sanctuary, look for the “Kid’s Corner,” where younger worshippers may pick up a rainbow bag to keep them occupied during the quieter parts of the service.

  • Saturday Vespers: We use the beautiful “Holden Evening Prayer” service with its emphasis on quiet meditation by contemporary composer Marty Haugen. Children are welcome! This is a shorter (45 minute) service—perfect for young adults or those (teens and toddlers) who might need more sleep in the mornings!
  • Sunday Praise: Make a joyful noise! At this lively service we worship with praise song, big screen graphics, and a full praise band. Children are welcome to participate in the service and join Pastor Keseley for a special message just for them during the service. During the last hymn, kids are encouraged to pick up a shaker and join the band!
  • Sunday Traditional: This is a more formal (but never dry or boring) liturgical service with full choirs and special instrumental groups including bells, brass, and chimes. Children are welcome at our traditional service! Kids can join Pastor Keseley for a special message just for them during the service.

Can I take part in Communion?

At Abiding Presence, we gather around the Lord’s Table, which is an open table. (That means you don’t have to ask permission before taking communion.)

Children are never excluded. Those who do not take communion will receive a personal blessing.

The practice of communion often varies between churches, which can be confusing for everyone (not just visitors)! Learn more about our communion practices.

Is there a Nursery?

Yes! Nursery care is available for our Sunday worship services, as well as many special events. After you enter the main doors, turn left. You will see the Nursery on your left.

What activities do you have for Kids?

The short answer is “a lot!” From toddler to teen, Abiding Presence has a variety of age-specific learning and living activities for kids. Check out our:

Will I be singled out as a Visitor?

Absolutely not—we want you to feel comfortable! But don’t be surprised if you’re greeted by Pastor Meredith and members of the congregation. We love to meet new people!
