Abiding Presence

Service to the Local Community

Abiding Presence is an active member of Ecumenical Community Helping Others (ECHO), a private, non-profit, all-volunteer charity supported by 26 religious congregations in Burke and Springfield, Virginia which provides food, clothing, household goods and emergency financial assistance to people in need who live in our geographic area.

We provide meals for the homeless in support of Luther Place N Street Ministry and Bethany House in Washington, DC. N Street Village
We also assist a local retirement community, providing drivers as requested.
Abiding Presence holds a blood drive for the American Red Cross every other month. This attracts donors from both the congregation and the community at large. Blood Drive

On months with a fifth Sunday we send volunteers to Carpenter’s Shelter in Alexandria to provide and serve meals to the homeless. The Carpenter's Shelter is the largest homeless shelter in Northern Virginia, serving more than 1,000 children, women and men each year.

Each fall, Abiding Presence teams with other area churches to raise money help feed those in need around the world. What is a Crop Walk? It is neighbors walking together to take a stand against hunger in our world. Together we raise awareness and funds for international relief and development, as well as local hunger-fighting.
